Welcome to R-active in English

Adventure Tours

For the first time, Reed and Reinhild offer two of their tours to handicapped people in the US. The tours have been avaliable for Europeans since 1991. Landsailing, whitewater rafting, handcycling, waterskiing, kajaking and camping in the outdoors are the activities which Reed and Reinhild put together in one exciting tour in the Wild West (California and Nevada)

General Information

The business R-active is located in Germany, but Reed and Reiny live at Lake Tahoe. A specially built trailer holds camping equipment, bicycles and a toilette for wheel chair users. A second support vehicle accommodates the different disabilities and levels of riders cicling on the roads with sparce traffic and spectacular scenery.

There are some over night stays in Motels. Limited to eight people (incl. Reed and Reiny), the tours will be very much custom made and all fun parts of the tour are wheelchair accessible.

The Accessible Adventure-Tours

Starting out of Reno/Tahoe region, the group travels east on Hwy 50, 'The Lonliest Road in America'! A three night stay on a dry lake bed 'la playa' will be the first adventure in the Nevada dessert. At this time of the year the needed wind for the landsailing is usually coming up at about 10:30 am. It doesn't take much to learn and get going on the landsailers. After one lesson with an instruktor on the tandem, people feel confident enough to go on their own. The landsailers can reach speeds up to 50 m/hr. But just the camping alone on the la playa, is one unique experience.

Traveling by bicycle and car for two days through scenic country. The group reaches Las Vegas for a night stay. The next day is the US-extreme day! Reaching the lowest and the highest point in the continental US, the Death Valley and Mt. Whitney, in less than two hours. Destination for that night will be Mammoth Lakes.

After camping in the Yosemite National Park for one night, the group will stay for three nights at the American River and experience the adventure of whitewater rafting. From there the american travelers can return to the Reno/Tahoe region to catch a return flight or they continue with the group to San Francisco were the adventures tour will end.

Personal contact prior to a registration or special arrangements is required. Reed and Reiny make sure, that you will have lots of fun!
